Servant Communication for Servant Leaders

Servant Communication for Servant LeadersMany governmental, religious, educational, and corporate institutions are suffering. Even real servant leaders have difficulty casting a worthy vision and motivating employees to do what is good and right.

Moreover, stakeholders and the public expect to be manipulated, deceived, and flattered by individuals and institutions. The public is skeptical of leaders.

On nearly all levels, public communication in North America is constrictive, empty, and sometimes even heartless. We need leaders who are virtuous as well as skilled communicators. We need servant communicators—communicators who know how to serve colleagues and external constituencies.

“Servant communication” is about using the gift of communication to serve each other—parallel to what Robert Greenleaf calls “servant leadership.”  Such servant-oriented leaders aim for the high ground, using communication to serve others as their neighbors. I call it servant communication.

This is why I wrote the book pictured above: Communicate Like a True Leader. It’s 30 short chapters; each one gives an example or illustration on how to be a servant communicator. I recently noticed that reviewers on Amazon give the book an amazing score of 4.9 out of 5. Wow, thanks so much, all of you budding servant leader-communicators!

What do you think? How can I serve you in your servant leadership communication? Would you like to join the conversation? Send me a note. I’m listening. I’d be delight to discuss how I might serve you and your group.
