Quentin Schultze
For the last 34 years I’ve served as a communication professor, writer, speaker, mentor, and consultant. I love it. I earned a Ph.D. from the Institute of Communications Research at the University of Illinois and eventually joined the faculty at Calvin College (Grand Rapids, MI), where I am the Arthur H. DeKruyter Chair and a Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences.
My books include An Essential Guide to Public Speaking, which is used across North America for teaching and mentoring people in the art of public speaking, and Resume 101: A Student and Recent-Grad Guide to Crafting Resumes and Cover Letters that Land Jobs, the leading book on the topic. My scholarly publications have appeared in several dozen journals. I’ve also written over a hundred articles for general-interest periodicals.
An "aha" moment.
I’ve been quoted in most of the major media, including The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Fortune, the Chicago Tribune, USA Today, and many other publications. I’ve been interviewed by CNN, CBS Radio, NBC TV, National Public Radio, and dozens of additional radio and television stations.
I speak at and consult for businesses, non-profit organizations, trade associations, colleges and universities, and religious groups. I received the Presidential Award for Exemplary Teaching at Calvin College in 2000.
I continue to explore what I call “servant communication”—communication that serves others as our “neighbors,” rather than just ourselves. I’ll soon be writing and speaking extensively on the subject, including words of wisdom delivered via Twitter (@quentinschultze). Stay tuned.
The “e” in “Schultze” is silent, by the way.
